Ideas for Thanksgiving Activities

Thought I’d share some of the things we will be doing this week and next to learn about and celebrate Thanksgiving.  Do you have some others? Add them in the comments, if you don’t mind. Thanks for sharing!

  • Lots of Thanksgiving-related videos from the History Channel can be found here.
  • Indian Corn craft with mini marshmallows at No Time For Flashcards. A great use for stale marshmallows or those you’d like to get out of your house so you don’t eat them.  I’ve also seen this craft done with small squares of colored paper (a great fine-motor activity) as well as buttons.
  • We are reading Cranberry Thanksgiving, a Five in a Row book, this week and next. At the end of the book is a recipe for Cranberry Bread to try.
  • Have you seen our Thanks and Giving turkeys? The kids have been very busy filling out feathers about things they are thankful for and ways they give to, or help, others.  They are making more of an effort to help each other with everyday tasks, like putting coats and shoes on a younger sibling, cleaning up, etc.  For this reason, I am considering leaving up the turkeys year round. Just kidding.

What are you working on this season?
