Bring In The Snow!

My daughter has been sick for a few days but has asked repeatedly to go out and make a snowman for her baby brother. So today, we brought the snow inside to her.

I assembled a tray of various sized bowls, measuring cups, spoons and shovels as well as a plate of whatever small produce we had in the house to make snowmen faces.  Toothpicks served as arms.

I filled a dishpan-sized tub full of snow.

My two-year-old was content to dig in the dishpan full of snow and fill a bowl, then dump it back into the dishpan.

Afterwards, we put our finished snowmen, in their bowls, out on the deck so we can see them through the window and check on them throughout the day.

The snow, being several days old, was rather icy and thus, a bit frustrating for the kids to work with.  We decided is was not the best kind of snow for building a snowman, but it was a fun experiment. I liked that it didn’t require bundling three kids into snowsuits, boots, mittens, hats, etc.  And you can still have hot chocolate afterwards.
