Here is the post I wrote for last week. Thank you for all of your comments, tweets, messages, etc. that expressed condolences to our family. We so appreciate it.
We’ve been off for the past month, and while I thought we’d be more relaxed, I really should know myself better than that by now. There are just too many fun places to go and things to do that kept tempting us away from lazy summer days.
And the fun will continue, although we will begin to school lightly for July and August.
I like lists, especially fun lists like this one, of all the summery things we’ve done so far. The Creek Kids and I will have fun reading this together.
List of fun, summery, cool stuff…Ready? Go!
Went to see the play, Click, Clack, Moo.
Learned what a typewriter is.
Took a trip to Baltimore, rode the dragon boats, met new friends and went to the aquarium.
Mom got a cool new summer haircut.
Picked black raspberries until our fingers turned purple.
Made crowns and bouquets of lavender, tied with pretty ribbons.
Harvested lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, rosemary, oregano and more from the garden.
Played in a creek with friends we met at playgroup when Firefly was a baby.
Went cherry picking and baked a cherry pie.
Went to see the play, Frog and Toad. Read lots of Frog and Toad books.
Went to a carnival, rode the ferris wheel and more.
Mom learned how to use the macro setting on her camera, simply by reading the manual–genius. (Hey, I’ve only had this camera for four years.)
Went boating, watched fireworks and had a cookout on the creek with family and friends.
Reunited with family, some that I hadn’t seen in too many years, to celebrate the life of my wonderful cousin, Tom. So sad to see a life end too soon. And amidst the grief, a reconnection with so many from my extended family, a talk of planning a reunion in happier times, a reminder not to put off making a trip to see someone who lives far away, because you just never know…
